Learn About the History of the Botsford Inn

Farmington Hills, MI (March 18, 2009)--- The Botsford Inn holds great memories for generations of families and friends that celebrated weddings, class reunions, birthdays or Sunday dinners.

Join Botsford Hospital’s Generations group, a membership program for adults age 50 and better, for a special presentation on the Botsford Inn.  Brian Golden, a local historian and director of the Heritage & History Center in Farmington Hills, will share the history of the Inn, along with fascinating stories of the territory surrounding it at a luncheon on Friday, April 10.  The program will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Cultural Center located at 18100 Merriman Rd. in Livonia.  The cost is $13 for Generations’ members or $18 for non-members.  Registration is required by April 3.  To register, please contact Carol Czarnecki, Generations Coordinator, at (248) 442-5059.

Botsford Hospital, the current owner of the Botsford Inn, has restored the Inn’s exterior to its 1925 Henry Ford era appearance.  Botsford is currently inviting members of the community to purchase a commemorative brick in the plaza outside the Inn honoring a special event, person or memory.  The tax-deductible purchase of a brick will help write a new chapter in the history of the Inn by supporting the renovation and restoration of its interior.

Bricks include a personalized inscription and will be available for purchase only in 2009.  4” x 8” bricks are $250 and 8” x 8” bricks are $400.  For more information on how you can honor or remember a loved one with a brick, please call (248) 442-5065 or visit www.botsford.org.  Facebook users can also join the group “Botsford Inn Commemorative Brick Plaza” to reminisce about the Inn, post photos or share stories.

Botsford Hospital, an independent 330-bed community teaching hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich., was founded in 1965. Nationally recognized for quality, safety and medical education programs, Botsford has received the 2007 Governor’s Award for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting, and, in 2007, a three-year recertification as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.  Botsford’s Web address is www.botsford.org.
