Botsford Doctors Offer Free Blood Pressure Screenings

Livonia, MI (April 14, 2008)--- Two doctors at Livonia Family Physicians will be hosting an open house with free blood pressure screenings and refreshments on Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at their office located at 28275 Five Mile Road in Livonia.

Kristen West, D.O., and Sherri Rosenfeld, D.O., are Botsford Hospital family doctors.  In addition to seeing patients of all ages, they have a special interest in women’s health, performing various procedures including annual gynecology exams.

Livonia Family Physicians have three offices in Livonia to serve their patients and offer Saturday hours and late appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays.  They also offer bloodwork and x-rays at all locations.

For questions about the open house or to learn more about Livonia Family Physicians, please call (734) 261-1740.

Botsford Hospital, an independent 330-bed community teaching hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich., was founded in 1965.  Nationally recognized for quality, safety and medical education programs, Botsford has received the 2006 Governor’s Award for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting, and, in 2007, a three-year recertification as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.  Botsford’s Web address is www.botsford.org.

There are many things that contribute to your risk of developing high blood pressure.  Here are some risk factors that Dr. West and Dr. Rosenfeld say contribute to high blood pressure:

  1. Being older than 55 years
  2. African Americans have a higher risk of developing high blood pressure
  3. Women are less likely to develop high blood pressure
  4. Family history of high blood pressure
  5. Smoking
  6. Sedentary lifestyle
