Farmington Hills, MI (March 26, 2007)--- Botsford Commons Senior Community, part of Botsford Health Care, is offering its annual caregivers series titled “The Caregiving Journey.” The series will address caregivers’ concerns and help them to make informed decisions for their loved ones. The seminar is available to anyone who is caring for an aging parent, relative, friend or spouse, or for individuals who find themselves challenged with aging issues of their own.
The program will be held on Wednesday, April 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Helen L. DeRoy Memorial Chapel at Botsford Commons Senior Community located at 21450 Archwood Circle in Farmington Hills. The cost of the series is $5 per session and lunch is included. Session 1: Kathryn Bartz, MA, will lead the morning session on “Life’s Unexpected Turns- Where They Take Us.” The session will include information on what you need to know about hospitalization, rehabilitation, residential choices, what insurance covers, resources regarding getting through a crisis and what happens if life takes an unexpected turn.
Session 2: The afternoon session, “What Do We Do When We Get There… and How Do We Get Back Home,” will be led by Theodore Ruza, D.O., Director of Geropsychiatric Services at Botsford Hospital. Dr. Ruza will talk about maintaining independence, family involvement and putting together a plan for what happens after a crisis.
