Livonia Mall, located at Seven Mile and Middlebelt Roads, offers mall walking on Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Botsford provides free blood pressure checks for walkers on the third Wednesday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Northland Mall, located at Eight Mile and Greenfield Roads, offers mall walking on Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Botsford also offers free blood pressure screenings for walkers on the third Monday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Northland has an extremely active walking club called the “Pacers.” About 500 people are involved. They meet four times each year with speakers on a variety of health and walking topics. Prizes are also awarded based on miles walked.
Walking in a mall makes it easy to be consistent in your walking program. The environment is weather-free and temperature controlled and there are always walkers to partner with. No matter your age, walking is a great way to burn calories, have stronger bones and a healthier heart.
