2009 H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu)

Botsford Hospital is part of a large network of local, state, national and international agencies that are working together and involved in determining the appropriate response to this outbreak of H1N1 Flu. These include the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We are following the clinical guidelines issued by CDC.

The Michigan Department of Community Health reports aggregate data on flu-like illness and confirmed probable cases of both seasonal flu and H1N1 flu. Botsford has reviewed a wide range of questions, issues and processes for addressing the numerous concerns and implications of this event. This ongoing process is intended to protect our employees, optimize the care of our patients to every degree possible and provide the basis for a partnership with the community in responding to this public health issue. We are committed to sharing all available information with all of our stakeholders.

There are numerous questions regarding prophylaxis (prevention) as well as treatment of this illness. These concerns will continue to be addressed as more information becomes available.
