Upper GI & Small Bowel

This test is a combination of an upper GI test and a small bowel test. An X-ray is used to examine the esophagus, stomach, and the entire small intestine.

Preparing for your test:

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight, the night before your test.
Nothing to eat or drink until the test is completed.
Take a mild laxative (Dulcolax) after 7 p.m. the night before your test.
The small bowel portion of this test may take up to three hours to complete.
Bring someone to drive you home from your appointment.
