This Program Director, appointment by the Chairman of the Department of Radiology, retains ultimate responsibility for assuring that the residency program meets or exceeds the basic standards.
The program director is certified in diagnostic radiology by the AOA and through the AOBR. The program director is a full time specialist in radiology, capable of conducting a broad program in radiologic science including its clinical aspects.
The director meets the continuing education requirements of the ACGME, the AOCR and the AOA.
The program director is responsible for providing a complete training program in diagnostic radiology. The director is responsible for registering all residents with the secretaries of the ACGME, the AOCR and the AOA Office of Education. Also, the program director informs the secretaries of the ACGME, the AOBR, the ABR, the AOCR and the AOA Office of Education of the successful completion of each resident's training.
Annual reports on the progress of each resident are submitted to the ACGME, the AOA and the AOCR.
The program director will assure that the residents' required papers are of an acceptable nature. It is the director's responsibility that the resident's logs and other records are maintained and up-to-date.
All radiologists approved for staff privileges at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills are eligible as faculty for training radiology residents. Participation and designation is determined by the program director.
Qualifications of physicians other than members of the staff at Beaumont, Farmington Hills are determined by the program director. This refers to instructors who are not available at Beaumont, Farmington Hills but are necessary for complete training of the radiology resident.
Each member of the department is responsible for assisting each resident to meet the goals outlined by the ACGME and the AOCR.
