Program Description

The Integrated Family Practice and Neuromusculoskeletal Residency Program at Botsford Hospital is a four-year program that provides the resident with a combination of training in Family Practice (FP) and Neuromuscular Medicine (NMM). The program provides an additional year of training beyond the requirements of the ACOFP and meets AOA requirements for both FP and NMM certification.

In addition, this program is part of the Statewide Osteopathic Principles and Practices Consortium through the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). This Consortium meets for monthly journal club and lectures/laboratories to provide additional didactic and hands-on training with all member hospitals and MSUCOM.

The resident develops skills as an educator and researcher and achieves an understanding of integrating use of multidisciplinary aspects of patient care. He or she gains an understanding of delivering cost-effective care while maintaining excellent quality of care. Each resident provides lectures to house staff during all three years. He or she is present for at least one-half day per week in the family practice resident clinic to see patients or assist in preceptorship of residents or students. This clinic presence provides an additional educational resource to those rotating through the clinic.
