Program Description

This two-year nephrology and hypertension fellowship program is a collaboration between Beaumont Hospital-Farmington Hills, St. John's Macomb Hospital and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). The fellow learns to apply basic renal physiology principles towards the broad spectrum of nephrological diseases. As such, the fellowship provides a rich clinical experience in electrolyte and acid-base disturbances, acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, acute and chronic dialysis, glomerulonephritis and nephrolithiasis. In addition, adequate training is provided in transplantation, renal pathology and continuous renal replacement therapy. Ambulatory training is provided in chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

The program will be applying for ACGME accreditation in 2016, and is diligently working on their application. Once the application is submitted, the program will have pre-accreditation. After the site visit and review by the RC, the program will hopefully receive accreditation through the Single Accreditation System.

All applications must be submitted through ERAS.
