Ruth Ranks M.Ed., R.D.
Ruth is the Program Manager of the ReNew Weight Management Program. Ruth studied both Nutrition and Economics/Management at Albion College and has a Master’s of Education in Nutrition from the University of Cincinnati. She completed the Certificate of Training Program in Adult Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
A Registered Dietitian with an emphasis on nutrition education, Ruth has worked in many different settings over the past 25 years. In addition to her position with ReNew, Ruth is an adjunct professor of nutrition at Oakland Community College and Central Michigan University’s global campus.
Of the ReNew Program, Ruth says “I am thrilled to be part of each client’s journey toward better health and long term weight management. It is exciting to share in their successes and see people stop taking medication for high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol and gain control over their weight and overall health. The group members and I truly develop a bond and shared sense of accomplishment!”
Ruth lives in the area with her husband, teenagers and crazy dog. In her free time, she enjoys walking, spending time outdoors, cooking, and reading.
Catherine Nay, M.Ed., R.D., CHES
Catherine is a Health Educator with the ReNew Weight Management Program. At Michigan State University, she studied Dietetics with a dual specialization in Health Promotion as well as Bioethics, Health & Society. She has a Master's in Heath Education from Wayne State University. Catherine completed the Certificate of Training Program in Childhood, Adolescent and Adult Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Education Specialist, her professional interests are focused on the realm of weight management. She has extensive experience working with children, teens and adults in weight management, including bariatric surgery.
Catherine's philosophy regarding weight loss is that there is not a "one size fits all" method that works for everyone. "I enjoy helping ReNew clients overcome their specific weight loss barriers and improve their overall quality of life."
When she's not working, Catherine enjoys kickboxing, traveling with her husband, and cooking.
Julia Stevens, M.P.H., R.D., C.P.T.
Julia is a Health Educator with the ReNew Weight Management Program. She studied Exercise Science at Alma College and has a Master’s of Public Health in Human Nutrition from the University of Michigan, where she also completed her Registered Dietitian training. Julia completed the Certificate of Training Program in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Personal Training from the American Council on Exercise, and is also extensively trained in wellness and health coaching. Julia has worked in the weight management and chronic disease management field for over 10 years focusing on a combination of exercise, nutrition, and behavior change to drive success for her clients.
To future and current ReNew clients, she says, “As your coach, I commit to helping you clarify your goals, to support you through your journey, and to celebrate with you when you reach the end!”
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family (husband, 2 little girls and a little boy), doing anything active outdoors, and experimenting in the kitchen.
