Diabetes PATH (Personal Action Toward Health)

Beaumont Health in partnership with the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan offers Diabetes PATH, a free six-week workshop to help adults living with Type 2 diabetes live a healthier life.  Caregivers are also encouraged to attend.

Diabetes PATH is a fun, interactive workshop led by certified leaders – one or both of whom have diabetes themselves. 

Managing diabetes can present challenges throughout life – and, making changes can be hard.  Feel more confident and focused as you create personal action plans and set practical, achievable goals that are right for YOU!

Participants gain hands-on experience learning to manage all aspects of their diabetes including communicating  better with family and friends, relaxation, understanding nutrition labels, handling difficult emotions, and increasing strength and endurance through physical activity.

The Diabetes PATH program is appropriate for people who are newly diagnosed as well as those who have been living with type 2 diabetes for years and their caregivers.  It has been proven in studies to reduce symptoms and physician visits as well as increase self-management abilities and communication with doctors.

“This was the best workshop I’ve attended with so much interaction.  I have learned so much about diabetes and how to control it and change my habits.  I have learned how to manage emotions, read food labels, create action plans and hold myself accountable for completing them”, said a recent Diabetes PATH participant.
