American Red Cross Swim Lessons

All swim classes follow the American Red Cross curriculum and are taught by certified American Red Cross Instructors. Classes are six week sessions and meet one day a week. Small class sizes. Pre-registration necessary! You may sign up for swim lessons at the Front Desk or by phone.

 

Parent Toddler (Age: 2-4 years old)

This class encourages independent movement in the water and helps children transition to a class without the parent present. Instructors will work with each child and parent pair at the child's level to teach basic water safety, swimming readiness activities and basic swimming skills. One child per parent/adult please.

Preschoolers (Age: 3-5 years old)

This class is intended to be a transition from parent to independent swimming. Students will gain confidence in the water through a series of water games and floating exercises. It is recommended that more tentative swimmers enroll in this class before attempting Young Swimmer I.

Young Swimmer I (Age: 4-6 years old)

This class is designed for children with little or no experience in the water. There are no prerequisites. Water safety, submerging head, breath holding, front and back floats, beginning kicking and arm stroke, and beginning freestyle and backstroke are the skills focused on in this class.

Young Swimmer II (Age: 4-6 years old)

Prerequisites for this class include: fully submerged head for 2-3 seconds, float for 3-5 seconds, and swim 5-10 feet with face in the water. New skills introduced include: rolling over from front to back and back to front, glides, recovering for air while swimming, swimming in deeper water, swimming increased distances, and improved freestyle & backstroke.

Young Swimmer III (Age: 5-8 years old)

Prerequisites include: fully submerged head 5-10 seconds, streamline push-off and alternating arm action for 25-30 feet, and confidence in deep water. New skills introduced include: rotary breathing, breaststroke, and stroke refinement. Swimmers should be able to swim the length of the competitive pool (25m) by the end of the session.

Stroke Development I (Age 7-14)

Students who have rudimentary swimming skills interested in refinement should elect to take this class Wil will spend six weeks running drills and perfecting front crawl and backstroke. Participants should possess the ability to float and willingness to learn. We will take care of the rest!

Stroke Development II (Age 7-14)

Students who have a developed stroke and are interested in building endurance and competitive skills are encouraged to take this class as a stepping stone to competitive swimming. Mechanics of breastroke and butterfly will be included.

Aquatic Personal Training

Achieve your fitness goals in a structured one-one environment with our certified Aquatic Personal Trainers. From weight loss to pain management to increasing athletic performance, our trainers will meet your exercise needs by creating a personalized program and guide you through the proper techniques, form and intensity. Length: Varies.

Private swim lessons are perfect for the adult or child, from the novice swimmer to the athlete who prefers one-on-one instruction.
