Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (June 18, 2009)---The nurses at Botsford Hospital work hard to fulfill the hospital’s mission in an environment brimming with exceptionally high standards and constant challenges. The Farmington Hills hospital has a 20-year history of recognizing extraordinary contributions nurses make to their patients, each other and the profession through its Nursing Excellence Award program. This award is given out to highlight high-achieving Botsford nurses for their skill, compassion and commitment to nursing. It is one of the most important and prestigious awards Botsford bestows.
This year’s 21 awardees comprise 10 staff nurses, two nursing educators, two clinical nurse specialists, a case manager, a nurse practitioner, three nursing managers and two nursing directors. Each found ways to raise the bar for their peers and improve the quality of life for patients at Botsford Hospital.
In conjunction with National Nurses Week in May, Botsford Hospital’s nursing leaders gave out the accolades at an awards banquet held at Ginopolis’ on the Grill Restaurant in Farmington Hills.
The 21 award winning nurses each distinguished themselves and nursing through their achievements, says Botsford Hospital’s vice president and chief nursing officer Marge Hasler, RN, MSN. “They have earned this special recognition from the hospital and their peers.”
In the past year, the awardees earned specialty practice nursing certifications in case management; lactation consulting; medical/surgical nursing; oncology; operating room; rehabilitation; third trimester obstetrics ultrasound; orthopedics; pediatrics; ultrasound teaching; and wound care, ostomy and continence. A nurse practitioner and a clinical nurse specialist earned doctorate degrees in nursing practice. Recognition was given for work on special projects at Botsford Hospital and for the quick action of a nurse in saving a coworker’s life.
