Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (December 30, 2013)---Sometimes, charity really does begin at home. On Christmas Eve, Botsford Hospital's security officers expressed their human kindness by delivering complete Christmas dinners to two local needy families. These two families---each with several children---have a special connection to Botsford in that each has a young breadwinner currently undergoing treatment at Botsford Cancer Center who is unable to work.
"I asked around to see if we had any families within Botsford who needed help this Christmas," said Michael Geldmacher, director, Botsford's Security Department. "The staff at Botsford Cancer Center told me about these two families. I know how tough it can be to support a family even in the best of times, but these two cancer patients are unable to work to support their families. My security officers and I wanted to do something that would bring them some happiness."
The security officers pooled their money, purchased complete dinners including dessert for these two families, and delivered the meals to the patients' homes on Christmas Eve.
