Farmington Hills, Mich. (February 7, 2013)---Joseph Walkiewicz, D.O., has joined the medical staff at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. This board-certified orthopedic surgeon sees patients at Great Lakes Orthopedics, 6255 Inkster Rd., Suite 103, Garden City, (734) 422-8400.
Dr. Walkiewicz is fellowship trained in joint replacement and sports medicine. His specialty interests include joint replacement, fracture care, and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.
A trained physical therapist, Dr. Walkiewicz went on to obtain his medical education from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). After interning at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and Bi-County Community Hospital, he completed the orthopedic surgery residency at Garden City Hospital. Dr. Walkiewicz also performed a yearlong sports medicine fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the Florida Knee and Orthopaedic Centers based in Clearwater, Florida.
Dr. Walkiewicz is an assistant clinical professor at MSUCOM's Division of Orthopedic Surgery. He is professionally affiliated with the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a past president of the Michigan Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
Botsford Hospital is a multi-specialty 330 bed hospital and verified trauma center located in Farmington Hills, Michigan. The campus also houses an imaging center and a comprehensive care cancer center.
