Twenty-Ninth Annual Lecture Series Planned for Primary Care Physicians

Farmington Hills, Mich. (October 25, 2012)---Botsford, a renowned osteopathic teaching hospital in partnership with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, is sponsoring the 2012 Symposium for Primary Care Medicine, November 2 and 3, at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel. In its 29th year, this popular lecture series is expected to sell out its 350 seats.

In Michigan, physicians are required to earn 150 continuing medical education (CME) credits every three years. Physicians may earn up to 17 CME credit hours at this two-day event. Botsford Hospital is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association and the Michigan State Medical Society to sponsor CME for physicians. Nurses may also earn CME credits to meet continuing education requirements for Michigan Nursing Relicensure without limitation.

Continuing medical education helps those in the medical field maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field. Content for Botsford's program is developed, reviewed and delivered by faculty who are experts in their individual clinical areas. The symposium's faculty consists of 20 noted specialists from the fields of cardiology, dermatology, emergency medicine, family medicine, gastroenterology, gerontology, infectious disease, internal medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics-gynecology, otolaryngology, palliative care, sports medicine and urology.

"This symposium is designed to provide the most advanced-level educational program to primary care physicians," says Andrew Cykiert, D.O., internal medicine specialist and director of continuing medical education at Botsford Hospital and assistant clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Cykiert continues, "It is very gratifying that physicians in the State of Michigan truly appreciate our talented lecturers and the ability to obtain quality continuing education credits close to their homes."
