Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (June 8, 2012)---Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills has been named among the "Top Hospitals" in the country by Leapfrog Group for providing the safest and highest quality health care services to patients. Of the 2,652 hospitals issued a Hospital Safety Score, 729, including Botsford Hospital, earned an "A," 679 earned a "B," and 1243 earned a "C" or below.
The designation was announced by the Leapfrog Group, an independent, national non-profit that surveyed U.S. hospitals to develop a Hospital Safety Score. Hospitals were given for the first time this year a letter grade A,B, C, D or F to provide patients the vital information to make informed decisions about where to seek care, and take the right precautions during a hospital stay. Utilizing publicly reported data for infections, medication errors and in-patient injuries, hospitals were evaluated for their safety records during 2011.
"Botsford Hospital nurses, physicians and clinicians work hard to continually improve safety and quality for our patients," Paul LaCasse, president and CEO of Botsford Health Care, said. "The Leapfrog honor highlights our dedication to reducing errors and our commitment to high quality care and service. Technological advances including the installation of electronic medical records, promotes ongoing efficiency, quality and safety for patients at Botsford."
The Hospital Safety Score website - www.hospitalsafetyscore.org - allows visitors to search hospital scores for free, and also provides information on how the public can protect themselves and loved ones during a hospital stay.
