Farmington Hills, Mich. (January 30, 2012)---John C. K. Pui, M.D., FASDP, FCAP, has been named to serve as associate chair of Botsford Hospital's Department of Pathology. He became a member of Botsford's medical staff in 2008, and has been a practicing pathologist in the Metro Detroit area for nine years.
"Our pathologists' role in clinical care is especially important here," says Gil Herman, Ph.D., M.D., chair of Botsford's Department of Pathology. "I am delighted not only that John Pui has agreed to help me lead our department, but also I am thrilled with the breadth of clinical knowledge he brings to Botsford."
In 1995, Pui received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the New York University School of Medicine, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Fred S. Mandelbaum Award for Excellence in Pathology and Allied Sciences. He completed his pathology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Pui then completed three fellowships: the Visiting Genitourinary Fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC, the Oncologic Pathology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he also stayed on as chief fellow and junior faculty, and then the Dermatopathology Fellowship at the New York University School of Medicine.
Pui is board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and dermatopathology. He has achieved the rank of Fellow of the American College of Pathologists and of the American Society of Dermatopathology.
A core trainer in Botsford's Dermatology Residency Program, Pui holds the rank of clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Human Pathology at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
