A Walk with a Doc at Farmington Hills Nature Center

Farmington Hills, Mich. (August 10, 2011)---Botsford Hospital and the Farmington Hills Nature Center at Heritage Park are partnering to promote health and wellness in a series of events called A Walk with a Doc. 
Carolyn Nelson, D.O., and Kathleen Hannon, D.O., of Farmington Village Family Practice will kick off the first walk at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, discussing women’s health. A free program, open to the entire community, A Walk with a Doc is for those who want to maintain or improve their health and learn more about the healing powers of nature. 
Health care professionals will be available for discussions, blood pressure monitoring and more. The 30- to 60-minute walk begins at the nature center and continues on a variety of trails throughout the park. Walkers of all ages and skill and fitness levels are welcome to attend. 
A Walk with a Doc is a national program created by a cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio. Botsford Hospital is the first hospital to introduce the program in Michigan. National funding for the program is provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. 
The 211-acre Heritage Park includes subtle hills, open meadows, wetlands and hardwood forest along the Rouge River located on Farmington Road between 10 and 11 Mile Roads in Farmington Hills.
