Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (May 25, 2011)---Sarah Hickey, R.N., who cares for emergency patients at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, has been selected as a recipient of a Botsford Hospital 2011 Safety Excellence Award. The award recognizes employees' contributions to the hospital's safety initiatives.
Hickey, a resident of Brighton, was recognized for leading a team that improved the medical administration process in Botsford’s Emergency Center. Charged with merging emergency patients’ electronic medical records with the center’s electronic medication dispensing cabinets, the team devised a process that reduces the risk of medication errors. Now, medication printouts are provided for Botsford’s ER nurses to use at the patient’s bedside. This extra measure increases medication safety during the 60,000 emergency patient visits annually at Botsford Hospital.
Botsford Hospital is a multi-specialty 330 bed hospital and verified trauma center located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
