Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (October 25, 2010)---Botsford Hospital and its employees, medical staff and volunteers contributed 574 pounds of food to support Gleaner’s Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
Botsford Hospital’s efforts are part of the 20th year of the Michigan Harvest Gathering. The hospital joined forces with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA), marking the 13th year that the MHA and its member hospitals have served as primary sponsor of the campaign.
Amy Bowes, Botsford Hospital’s Employee Services Coordinator and leader for the food drive, says, “In these tough economic times, the Michigan Harvest Gathering gave us a chance to help our friends, neighbors and others in our community who are in need. Contributions made are important in helping tackle hunger year-round.”
Bowes continues, “A big thank you to everyone who donated items. We also want to recognize Gleaner’s for all the hard work they do in picking up and distributing the donations.”
Gleaner’s has ongoing food drives throughout the year and is always looking for donations. Donations provide three meals for every dollar donated. Ninety-five cents of every dollar supports their food program, and five cents goes to overhead. Go to www.gcfh.org to take action against hunger.
