Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (July 6, 2010)---Botsford Hospital’s Board of Directors has appointed Armen Korkigian, D.O., as the new Chairman of Internal Medicine. Dr Korkigian completed his internship and residency at Botsford Hospital and has been on staff at Botsford since 1982. He is seen as a leader within his department and has won Botsford’s Teacher of the Year award numerous times. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
Dr. Korkigian has also accepted the role as Champion of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation for Internal Medicine and its subspecialties. The new clinical EMR system will provide a comprehensive suite of clinical applications including clinical documentation, care plans, closed loop drug administration and computerized physician order entry.
David Walters, D.O., Botsford Hospital’s Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, says, “His leadership skills and experience will be an enormous contribution to Botsford. We look forward to working with Dr. Korkigian in his new role as we fulfill the missions and goals of the hospital.”
Dr. Korkigian replaces Gerald Blackburn, D.O., who served as Chairman of Internal Medicine for nearly five years.
