Farmington Hills, Mich. (June 15, 2010)---Janet Moody, R.N., infection control coordinator at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, has been selected as a recipient of a Botsford Hospital 2010 Safety Excellence Award. The award recognizes employees’ contributions to the hospital’s safety initiatives.
Moody received the award for her exceptional leadership in Botsford Hospital’s participation in the Michigan Health & Hospital Association Keystone Project for Hospital Acquired Infections. The project focuses on appropriate hand hygiene, reducing catheter-associated urinary tract infections and avoiding central line-associated blood stream infections. In addition to her leadership on the Keystone Project for Hospital Acquired Infections, Moody is also recognized for her continuous efforts in the importance of infection control, Botsford Hospital’s participation in the Critical Care Keystone initiative to reduce infections and improve care in critical care units, and for leading the hospital’s pandemic flu task force.
Marge Hasler, R.N., Botsford Hospital’s vice president and chief nursing officer and chair of the hospital’s Safety Board, says, “A major focus of hospital safety must be on prevention of infection and Janet is passionate in her infection control efforts. Everyday, Janet focuses on keeping our patients and healthcare workers safe from infections and other occupational hazards. She is a key leader in safety.”
