Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (February 26, 2010)---Botsford Hospital has been verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This achievement recognizes Botsford’s dedication to provide optimal care for injured patients and makes Botsford the first Level II Trauma Center serving the western portion of Oakland County.
A multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals at Botsford Hospital has been working for many months to assure that all aspects of the trauma program met the expectations of the ACS. The hospital’s trauma program offers a full range of surgical procedures around the clock with entire teams of medical professionals on site or available within 15 minutes of notification for most critically injured patients. A general surgeon specializing in trauma care leads the trauma response team.
“The ability to care for critically injured patients with life-threatening conditions sets Botsford apart from other hospitals in the area,” says, Paul LaCasse, D.O., president and CEO of Botsford Health Care. “It’s a coordinated effort among multiple departments at Botsford and emergency medical service providers to ensure a rapid response for delivering care to injured patients.”
Botsford has met the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and institutional performance, as outlined by the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma in its current Resources for Optimal care of the Injured Patient manual.
