Botsford News Release
Farmington Hills, Mich. (December 22, 2009)---Dave and Erin Feichtner and Dave and Wendy Greene have lots to be proud of this holiday season. Their children know the importance of giving. Last Friday, their four children donated two garbage bags full of their gently used stuffed animals to Botsford Hospital’s Emergency department.
Four years ago, Wendy and Dave Greene’s daughters, Morgann and Kira told their parents they wanted to give their stuffed animals to sick children. They called Uncle Dave (Feichtner), who is a Lieutenant with the Farmington Hills Fire Department, and he suggested donating their animals to Botsford Hospital. So, that’s exactly what they did.
Now, four years later, the Greenes and the Feichtners are giving more. Morgann Greene, 9 years old and the oldest of the children, says, “I was in the hospital when I was a baby and my parents told me about how I had lots of stuffed animals to cuddle with. I just wanted other kids to have something too.”
Her sister Kira, 7, says, “I just want kids that don’t have anything when they are sick to get something.” Jacob, 5, is learning from his cousins and parents too. He says, “I want kids who can’t come home for Christmas to have animals to love on.”
The youngest of the four, Aidan, 2, doesn’t know he is making a difference yet. However, as dad, Dave Feichtner, says, “He is giving without knowing, and he’ll learn more about giving when he’s older.”
