Farmington Hills, MI (April 30, 2008)--- Three years ago, Dr. Paul Jackson, a Botsford Hospital family doctor at Livonia Family Physicians, founded the “Racing 4 Your Memories” 5K Walk and 5K/10K Run to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter. This year’s event will be Sunday, May 18 at Kensington Metropark in Milford at Martindale Beach. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk/run begins at 8:30 a.m.
Alzheimer’s disease affects 5 million Americans, over 75,000 in the Detroit Metro area. Over 19 million Americans say they have a family member with Alzheimer’s disease. Money raised from “Racing 4 Your Memories” provides education, training and support services for local Alzheimer’s patients and their families. This year’s fundraising goal is $30,000.
Registration for the walk/run is available at www.racing4yourmemories.kintera.org or contact the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter at (248) 996-1060 to obtain a brochure and registration form. All ages and athletic abilities are welcome. Early bird registration is $15 for walkers and $20 for runners. After May 9, registration is $20 for walkers and $25 for runners.
