Farmington Hills, Mich., January 22, 2008 – Botsford Hospital has received full accreditation for three years from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) of the American Osteopathic Association. Accreditation by HFAP demonstrates that a health care facility has met the standards set forth by HFAP to provide high quality care and compliance with governmental regulations.
The accreditation announcement follows an extensive survey of the hospital facility during 2007. A team from the HFAP spent many hours reviewing Botsford’s physical plant, departmental quality improvement initiatives, processes, procedures, and medical staff policies.
“Our organization can be proud of this accomplishment,” William Scheuber, Botsford administrator for professional and support services, said. “This renewal of our accreditation means that the staff at Botsford is continuously evaluating and improving processes to meet or exceed the requirements of the American Osteopathic Association. The inspection process requires hard work, dedication and commitment.”
The HFAP has been providing medical facilities with an objective review of their services since 1945. The program is recognized nationally by the federal government, state governments, insurance carriers and managed care organization. HFAP has been granted “Deeming Authority” to conduct accreditation surveys under Medicare. It is one of only two voluntary accreditation programs in the United States authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to survey hospitals.
Botsford Hospital, a 330-bed community hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich., was founded in 1965. Nationally recognized for quality, safety and medical education programs, Botsford received the 2006 Governor’s Award for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting and, in 2007, a three-year recertification as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
