Farmington Hills, Mich., October 19, 2007 -- Botsford Hospital is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony today at 3 p.m. for its new Cancer Center on the property of the historic Botsford Inn on Grand River Avenue in Farmington Hills.
Participating in the ceremony will be Paul LaCasse, D.O., president and CEO of Botsford Hospital and Gerson Cooper, president and CEO of Botsford Health Care. Medical oncologists Craig Gordon, D.O., and Michael Berkovic, D.O., and James Fontenesi, M.D., a radiation oncologist, who will practice in the new cancer center, will discuss the importance of the center to the community from a clinician's viewpoint. Rep. Joseph Knollenberg, U.S. Representative, will be an honored guest.
The event represents the public launch of The Botsford Foundation's Share the Vision capital campaign to support the construction of the Cancer Center and the renovation of the Botsford Inn. "The campaign provides an opportunity for the community to take part in this innovative pairing of legacy and technology," said Margo Gorchow, Executive Director of The Botsford Foundation. "This project - the construction of a state-of-the-art cancer center concurrently with the renovation and refurbishment of a historic landmark - is unique in Michigan today."
