Botsford Earns Governor�s Award for Third Time

Farmington Hills, MI (October 5, 2006) -- Botsford Hospital has received the prestigious Governor’s Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Hospital and Emergency Department Settings. The Governor’s Award of Excellence, is sponsored by the Governor in concert with MPRO, Michigan’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization. The award is given to hospitals that are embracing evidence- based medicine and quality improvement initiatives to advance health care in Michigan. This is the third year that Botsford has received the Governor’s Award of Excellence.
“We applaud Botsford for implementing initiatives to provide the right care, at the right time, and improve the quality of life for their patients,” said Debra L. Moss, MD, MBA, president and chief executive officer, MPRO.

Botsford was recognized for improving hospital care in three clinical topic areas: acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure and pneumonia and for improving emergency care for acute myocardial infarction and pneumonia. The clinical topics that the award measures have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. “The Governor’s Award represents a tribute to our staff members’ unequivocal dedication to the health and well being of Botsford patients,” said Paul LaCasse, D.O., president and CEO of Botsford General Hospital. “These awards specifically recognize our efforts in cardiac and pulmonary services and demonstrate our excellence in these areas,” he continued.

To earn the awards, Botsford established a multidisciplinary team to look at all aspects of care related to a clinical topic. The groups provided innovative methods for insuring that criteria representing proven quality of care measures were met.
