Farmington Hills, MI (April 17, 2006)--- Do you have questions about the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit? Botsford Health Care Continuum is reaching out to older adults and their families in the local community by sponsoring free Medicare Prescription Enrollment Fairs. There will be fairs at the Livonia Civic Park Senior Center on Friday, May 5th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. and at Botsford General Hospital on Wednesday, May 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The events are tailored to the needs of people who have Medicare coverage or who will soon be eligible for that coverage and their family members. The sessions are designed to help attendees understand the differences among the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage programs being offered and then select and enroll in the plan that best meets the needs of the individual. Botsford’s trained enrollment counselors will be available to answer your questions, provide information about premiums and deductibles and help you to enroll in the plan of your choice.
In order to enroll in a Medicare Prescription Plan, you should plan to bring your Medicare card and a list of your current medications. You do not have to sign up for the prescription plan in order to attend. If you cannot afford to pay the monthly Medicare Prescription premium, you may qualify for assistance through the Extra Help Program. If you are eligible for Medicare and do not have current prescription coverage as good as Medicare, you must join a Medicare Part D plan by May 15th, or you may be charged a penalty of one percent per month for each month following that you do not enroll in Part D.
Reservations are required. For more information or to make a reservation, please contact Wendy Goddard, RN, at Botsford General Hospital at (248) 471-8162.
