Farmington Hills, MI (April 10, 2006)--- Botsford General Hospital’s Department of Laboratory Medicine has been awarded a renewal accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection.
The CAP Lab Accreditation Program is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government’s own inspection program.
“The Botsford Lab strives to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients. The excellence of our services was key to earning this important accreditation from CAP,” said Rosemarie Sandel, Director of Botsford Lab Services.
On January 31, CAP inspectors examined the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examined the staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the laboratory. The accreditation notice, received this week, is valid through February 8, 2008.
The Botsford Health Care Continuum is an integrated system of care, which includes Botsford General Hospital, the Botsford Physician Network, Community Emergency Medical Service, the Botsford Continuing Care Corporation and the Botsford Center for Health Improvement.
