James Smith, FACHE, is vice president of strategy and business development for Botsford Health Care. Areas reporting to him include strategy, business development, marketing, public relations, government relations and physician referral. Smith’s scope includes the hospital’s strategic plan development, execution of the strategic plan, and new projects related to Botsford’s growth objectives. His purview extends throughout Botsford Health Care’s diverse holdings and has him working on new business initiatives and helping the health care organization meet and exceed its strategic goals.
Smith has extensive health care experience in acute care and public policy. In addition, he also has experience in both pre-hospital and post-acute care. Prior to joining Botsford in 2000, he served in a leadership role at the Greater Flint Health Coalition, a broad-based coalition with a diverse group of stakeholders that focused on improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of the health care system in Genesee County.
Accorded the status of Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Smith previously earned a master’s degree in leadership studies and an undergraduate degree in marketing from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Michigan Society for Healthcare Planning and Marketing, and the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
