Gerson Cooper is president and chief executive officer of Botsford Health Care.

Born, raised and educated in Detroit, Cooper graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration. After active service in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Cooper joined Zieger Osteopathic Hospital in 1959 as business manager. In 1965, Zieger Osteopathic opened Botsford Hospital in its current location in Farmington Hills. Cooper has served Botsford in a variety of capacities including vice president of administration and president and CEO of the hospital.

An active member of the community, Cooper has been involved with the American Hospital Association, the Michigan Hospital Association, the Farmington/Farmington Hills Community Foundation, the Oakland County Business Roundtable and the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce. He has held a variety of leadership roles in these organizations including chairman of the board of the American Osteopathic Hospital Association, president of the Michigan Osteopathic Hospital Association and chairman of the Michigan Hospital Association. Cooper has been the recipient of the Justice D. Brandeis Award from the Zionist Organization of America, the State of Israel Maimonides Award for leadership demonstrated in the field of professional health services, the Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service from Michigan State University and, he was the first recipient of the Thomas V. Angott Award from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
